Vessel Safety Checks

Vessel Safety Checks (VSC) are a free service to educate you about safety equipment that you should have on board your boat, as well as to certify that these questions are answered for both you and the USCG.

  • Do you have all the right equipment?
  • Are your supplies and PFDs in serviceable condition?

  • If your boat passes the Safety Check, you will receive a VSC decal. This annual decal tells the Coast Guard that you have all the right stuff on board, and usually they will not board your boat at random for a saftey equipment check during the same year.

VSC Stations are scheduled every 3rd Saturday of each month between May and November.

    Locations:

  • Martinez launch ramp
  • Pittsburg launch ramp
  • Lauritzen launch ramp
  • To perform a pre-exam yourself check out the Safety Seal website.
